Boundaries Sessions

Does the thought of saying no make your heart race? Do you go along with things you don’t like, just to keep the peace? Do you routinely put others first, even at your own expense?

If this sounds like you, we would love to help!

Our Sessions

We’ve designed our boundaries mentoring sessions to give you what you need, when you need it.

Maybe you know exactly what you need to do, but the thought of actually doing it is overwhelming. Maybe you can tell something’s wrong and think you need a boundary, but you’re not sure what it should be. Or maybe you’re new to boundaries, and you feel uncomfortable (or even downright scared) setting them.

How can we help?

No matter where you are in your journey, we can help.

You can use your session to:

  1. See where your boundaries are working and where you might benefit from an upgrade;
  2. Clarify what’s most important to you, so that it’s easier to decide where to draw the line;
  3. Identify people who take advantage of you and how that happens;
  4. Develop strategies for dealing with these people; and
  5. Identify and work through your fears.

What can we help with?

We work with all kinds of issues. Some of the more common ones are:

  1. Feeling guilty putting yourself first: Many people, especially women, struggle to make their own needs and desires a priority. There are many possible reasons for this; one of the most common is the idea that good people put others first. If you often tell yourself you’ll get to your needs later – but later never comes – our boundaries mentor can help you to start looking after yourself.
  1. Trouble setting or maintaining boundaries: Most of us want people to like us, which can make saying “no” a challenge. Others can set a boundary but get stuck when people push back (or simply ignore it). Our boundaries mentor can help you to become more comfortable setting and maintaining your most important boundaries.
  1. Giving in to manipulation: Is there someone in your life who can talk you into almost anything? Do you give in under pressure? Our boundaries mentor can help you to see through common manipulation tactics and do what’s right for you.
  1. Fear of rejection: Sometimes we know what we need to do, but we just can’t get ourselves to do it. Often that’s because we didn’t feel accepted when we were younger. When we don’t get the acceptance and approval we need as children (or can’t take it in), our subconscious minds keep looking for it. Some people call this “looking for love in all the wrong places”. Our boundaries mentor can help you to recognize this and start looking for acceptance from yourself instead of others.
  1. Trying to make everybody happy: If you learned early on that conflict was dangerous, you may have coped by keeping everyone happy. This could happen if your parents fought a lot or often lashed out (physically or emotionally) when they were angry. Our boundaries mentor can help you to put conflict in its proper perspective and stand up for yourself when you need to.
